Helsingin seudun linnoitustyöt keskeytyivät vuonna 1917 Venäjän vallankumoukseen sekä sen jälkeen olleeseen Suomen itsenäistymiseen
Maailman mahtavin sotilasmahti ei pysty kävelemään sen toisen ydinasemahdin eli Venäjän yli, eli Irakin ja Libyan tyyppiset operaatiot olivat alusta lähtien mahdottomia. Miksi lähdettiin sitten keksimään erilaisia kiertoteitä ja YK:n korvikkeita, ei ole minulle ihan selvää.
